I got three quotes to install a new bathroom. One was with a bathroom designer who lacked technical knowledge of plumbing and installation and told me that what I wanted to achieve was impossible (not true) and instead designed a bathroom that I didnt want and the other company did the design I wanted but charged a premium price for the products. I had previously had some plumbing and heating work done by Essex Bathrooms and Kitchens and had been very impressed with their work and the professional approach of the company. I knew from their showroom that the quality of their products is excellent and I wanted a particular Laufen branded sink, which they happen to be local stockists for. Lewis did the survey, quote and project managed the installation. Hes fitted bathrooms himself and when he said he could build the bathroom I wanted, I was confident in what he said. He was also not fazed by my requests of bespoke building work, different lighting scenes, made to measure Corian, underfloor heating and large format Porcelain tiling. The price he quoted was very competitive. The work began on the agreed date. All the fittings were supplied as per my order and Lewis made sure that everything was available at the right time for the right person to install it. It may seem obvious but having someone specialised in the trade they are working on makes a big difference to the finished result compared to a general fitter who does everything (I learned this from a previous bathroom installation). Gavin and the team did an excellent job. The bathroom was installed by fitters who were plumbers, the ceiling was skimmed by a plasterer, the lighting and underfloor heating were done by an electrician, the painting was done by a decorator and the tiling was done by a tiler. The overall finish is excellent; I cannot fault it and I am very fussy when it comes to detail. Everyone who came to work in the house was polite and professional. They put protection down on the floors, cleaned and tidied at the end of the day and cleared all the rubbish when they were finished. Lewis was available at all times when I needed to discuss something. I also had a new boiler fitted at the same time, moving the location from the kitchen to the garage which involved lifting floors, new gas pipes and electrics. The heating engineers were very efficient and they even matched new bricks to the brickwork on my house to fill the hole left by the oil boiler and flue. It looks as good as new now and I have a new Worcester Bosch boiler with an 8 year guarantee. We absolutely love our new bathroom. It is comfortable, practical and looks amazing! Essex Bathrooms and Kitchens are a great family run business and it is obvious they take pride in their work and customer satisfaction. I would have no hesitation to use them again myself or recommend them.
